After payment you get access to the Pterodactyl panel — server controls, files, console, backups and settings all in one place.
How do I start or stop the server?
On the server page in the panel there are Start / Stop / Restart buttons. The first launch takes 1–2 minutes: the world generates and configs are created.
How do I find my server IP and port?
IP and port are shown on the server's main page in the panel. Share them with friends to connect; with a subdomain the address looks nicer.
Can I get a subdomain?
Yes, instead of IP:port you can set up a convenient subdomain. Contact support and we'll help connect it.
How do I connect via SFTP?
In the panel open Settings → SFTP. Use these credentials in FileZilla or WinSCP to upload and download server files.
How do I use the console?

How do I change the Minecraft version?
In the core/Startup section pick the version you need and reinstall the core. Always back up your world before changing versions.
🧩Modpacks & Mods 6
Which modpacks are available?
The catalog on the Order page features popular CurseForge and FTB modpacks. Pick any — it installs on the server automatically.
Can I install my own modpack?
Yes. Order a clean server with the core you need and upload your mods and configs via SFTP, or contact support — we'll help with the install.
How do I install Forge, Fabric or NeoForge?
Pick the core when ordering or switch it in the panel. Forge and NeoForge are for heavy modpacks, Fabric for light, performance-focused mods.
How do I upload my own world?
Stop the server, upload the world folder to the server root via SFTP or the file manager, then start the server again.
How do I add plugins?
On Paper/Spigot upload plugin .jar files to the plugins folder via SFTP and restart the server. Forge/Fabric mods go into the mods folder.
How do I change the Java version?
In the panel go to Startup → Docker Image and select the Java version you need. For Minecraft 1.20+ we recommend Java 17 or 21.
⚡Performance & Plans 5
How much RAM do I need?
For a vanilla or Paper server with a small group 2–4 GB is enough. For CurseForge/FTB modpacks plan for 6–10 GB and up — it depends on the number of mods and players.
How do I choose a plan?
Base it on the modpack and player count: the heavier the pack and the more players, the more RAM and CPU you need. Not sure — contact support, we'll advise.
What if the server is lagging?
Check TPS with /tps in the console. Low TPS is usually caused by farms, too many mobs, or heavy mods and plugins. Config optimization or a bigger plan helps.
Can I upgrade my plan later?
Yes, you can upgrade — RAM, disk and CPU increase with no data loss. Order the upgrade from your dashboard or via support.
How do I choose a location and reduce ping?
When ordering we automatically measure ping to each location and highlight the best one. Pick the location closest to most of your players.
🛡️Backups & Security 6
How are backups created?
In the panel's Backups tab you can create backups; the number of available slots depends on your plan.
How do I restore a backup?
Open the Backups tab, pick the backup you need and click Restore — the server restarts with the restored state.
Is there DDoS protection?
Yes, all servers are protected against DDoS attacks at the network level — it's enabled by default and needs no setup.
How do I enable the whitelist?
In server.properties set white-list=true, then add players in the console with /whitelist add nickname.
How do I grant operator (OP) rights?
In the panel console enter /op nickname — the player gets admin rights on the server.
How do I protect against griefers?
Use a whitelist, land-protection plugins (on Paper) and regular backups. If something happens you can always roll back to a backup.
