You never know what tomorrow brings

Vortex is an RPG modpack from Saudade Studio on Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge, with magic and technology woven into a single progression. It's a mess you have to fight your way out of: wait for the Storm to reach your doorstep, or battle it day after day and beat the hardest trial of your life.

You start on a small plot of land sealed off from the rest of the world by a custom barrier. To expand it, complete quests and collect rune stones. Quests pay out in a new currency for a unique shop and in tablets with trials.

The first hours go into nature magic, then technology opens up — and at some point the barrier falls and the whole world of Vortex is yours. Mod content unlocks step by step, through Tablet tasks and knowledge books you still have to find.

The world won't let you relax: Chaos Rifts open at your base, massive dungeons hold dozens of new creatures, and characters with their own stories drop by from time to time. Play solo or with friends on your own server.

The Barrier and the Storm

You start on a patch of land behind a custom barrier. Quests and rune stones push it back while the Storm creeps closer: wait it out or fight — your call.

RPG progression

Mod content unlocks through Tablet tasks, rune stones expand the barrier, and knowledge books hidden around the world unlock new mechanics.

World events

Chaos Rifts open at your base from time to time. Waves of hostile mobs pour out — defeat them to close the portal.

Dungeons and mobs

New massive structures with dozens of creatures inside await explorers. Loot the buildings and gather the resources you need to progress.

Custom content

Handmade quests, recipes, menus and 100+ new items made just for this pack. And that's only the tip of the iceberg.

Story

Characters come to visit, each with their own dialogue line and backstory. See the conversation through and get a unique gift.

Is the pack free?

The server version is: Saudade Studio gives it away for free, and it installs on your server with us in one click. The client is paid — every player buys their own activation key at vrtx.su.

Do I need a key or an access code?

No. The Vortex server version is openly available: click «Rent a server» — the pack is already selected in the order and installs on the server by itself.

What do players need to join the server?

Every player needs the Vortex client: buy it from the author at vrtx.su and install it following the guide in the archive. You can't connect to the server without it.

How much RAM should I take?

The author recommends 12 GB or more. For a big group and well-developed bases, 16 GB and up is better — if you're unsure, use our RAM calculator or ask support.

What happens to the world when the pack is installed or updated?

Installing or updating the pack overwrites the server files, so make a backup first — that's a couple of clicks in the panel, and backups are included in the plan.

Can I move a world from another host?

Yes. We'll move your world and settings from another host for free — it's our standard migration service.

How fast will the server be ready?

Servers are provisioned automatically after payment, usually within a few minutes. Vortex is installed on it right away.
